About The Nelson Farm

Don and Sonja

Are you looking for a farm to visit and experience? We invite you to discover our farm near Litchfield, Minnesota.

The Nelson Farm is nestled next to Youngstrom Lake, in a grove of 300 year old oak and walnut trees in rural Meeker County.

Some like to visit us in the fall for nostalgic reasons, to recall their own memories of growing up on a farm. Others come to visit our friendly farm animals, or to pick their own pumpkins and other harvest items to celebrate the fall season. Still others come to view the beautiful fall scenery and walk along the trails next to the lake. You'll marvel at the beauty of the fiery red sumac, the mighty yellowing oaks, and you may even catch a glimpse of some deer or other wildlife.

Alice
Maybe you'd like to see what life was like at the turn of the 20th century. In 1900, our big red barn was built in one day by over 30 families with notch and peg construction. Our farm house was completed one year later, in 1901. You can also get a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch pulled by "ALICE" our 1958 tractor, or a hand led pony ride.

Whatever your reasons for visiting, we're excited to share our farm heritage with you. We both grew up on farms, and today there are very few family farms left to visit and experience. So whether you come on a school field trip or to experience the Fall Festival with your friends and family, we're sure it will be an experience you won't soon forget.

Welcome to the Nelson Farm, and don't forget to try our homemade mini-donuts!
